I'd like to first start off by introducing myself. My name is Malia Johnson but I go by Lia. I am 21 years old born and raised in North Carolina. I'd very much so LOVE to interact with others and get to know new people. I want to travel the world I love seeing and learning new things.
I want to bring awareness to sickle cell disease as I myself was diagnosed with this illness at birth. sickle cell disease is a disease where my red blood cells are mishaped into a crescent.🌙 This means my cells die early leaving little to none healthly red blood cells, and can block blood flow causing pain (sickle cell crisis).
Actually, as I type this at 3:37am, I have been in a crisis since Thursday, Dec 8th on and off severe pain. Not to mention I just started a new job and I hope this crisis passes before I have to be back to work.
Oh, that brings me to tell you, I am currently in school taking a Pharmacy Technician course and it is stressful but very informative/fun. Outside of that I'm actually having fun in the class.
This is all I have for now, but best believe I will be back to talk more to you about how I deal with pain on a day to day basis, how I get around, if I have any help and all that good stuff. I am trying to become a great adovocate and I want to meet more people who have sickle cell because it can get very lonely.
